Virginia Beach, Va. - A Beach woman says a disagreement over parking in her neighborhood led to vandalism.

Yvette Brown says she's never heard her neighbors complain about her parking in front of their home. Instead she suspects, they like to write their feelings out.

"What's wrong with being civil and working it out in a civil way?" Brown said. "Why resort to go to all of this?"

Brown says this all started two months ago. Her son had parked his car in front of the neighbor's house while he was deployed with the Navy.

During that time, his tags had expired, so Brown says the neighbors called the police.

"But I didn't think it was a real big problem at that time, until a couple week's ago when my daughter's car was vandalized parked in the same spot in front of the neighbor's house," Brown said.

Monday after the most recent incident, Brown went to her neighbor's house to try to talk to them.

"Is your dad home?" Brown said. "And she says, 'My dad's not here and my dad didn't do that he was in the house with me all night.' It seemed to me like it was almost an admission because I never said anything else to her about why I was knocking on her door."

NewsChannel 3 stopped by the neighbor's home on Unicorn Drive. Either they weren't there or didn't want to answer our questions.

The Browns have four cars and only two can fit on their short driveway. Parking is limited, with only a few stretches here or there that won't block someone from getting in and out.

So even though she's been given instructions to go elsewhere, she's not changing.

"Monday night, I parked there again Monday night in the same spot," Brown said.

Brown is hoping this suburban squabble can be talked through and the spray paint can be put away for good.
