Norfolk, Va. - A little rain was not going to stop 73-year-old Joe Kight from showing off his new ride!

Two days ago, Joe’s hoveround mobility chair was stolen, leaving him confined to his Suffolk home.

His story did not go unnoticed.

31 miles away in Courtland, Joe’s story hit home for NewsChannel 3 viewer Tina Tripoli

"When I saw the news story it just hit me like a ton of bricks," she says.

Her mother passed away last year, leaving behind a barely used mobility chair.

She wanted to take action. To her it was simple.

"I even wrote in my journal this morning, you know dear mom, I told her what I was going to do,” Tripoli says. “You know I can just feel it. She would have been happy."

All loaded and covered up, we caravanned the rainy 45 minutes east to Suffolk.

Joe was in for a surprise. As he eased his way in, Joe couldn't wait to get going.

"I just want him to know that there are people out there that no matter what still got their back," Tripoli says.
