Virginia Beach, Va. - An 18-year-old man died and a 17-year-old female was injured after a crash in Virginia Beach on Tuesday.

The two were friends, police say.

The 18-year-old victim has been identified as Paul Edward Mailman of the 2400 block of Colony Drive, Virginia Beach.

Mailman graduated from Landstown High School in June.

The crash occurred on Shipps Corner and London Bridge Road.

Authorities say Mailman was the front seat passenger and the 17-year-old girl was the driver of the vehicle.

The teen girl was treated and released from a local hospital.

Police say charges are pending and the accident will be reviewed by the Commonwealth Attorney's Office.

They say neither alcohol nor drugs were factors.
