Chesapeake, Va. - A naked intruder is accused of threatening an elderly Chesapeake couple with a knife as they were watching TV Wednesday morning.

Police have charged Mark Fulk, 21, with the break in. Jim and Helen Hardee say Fulk came in through the back, and was standing in their kitchen doorway, wearing only a small towel.

"Just barely makes it around him," Jim Hardee said.

At first, Fulk didn't seem threatening they say.

"He says, 'I'm in trouble and I need some help,'" Helen Hardee said.

Jim Hardee says Fulk asked to use his phone. Hardee says Fulk, bizarrely, decided to call 911.

"Evidently they asked your address and your name and everything, he was dissatisfied so he threw the phone," Jim Hardee said.

Then the Hardees say Fulk saw a knife on a family room table.

"He picked up the knife and he says, 'I'll kill you, I'll kill you both,'" Helen Hardee said.

"Said he was going to kill me, then he said he was going to kill my wife and then he said he was going to kill us both," Jim Hardee said. "At one point he said we're all three gonna die here."

Jim Hardee worried these weren't just empty threats from a seemingly confused man.

Newschannel 3 talked with Fulk's mother, she did not want to go on camera, but told our crew her son must have been having a nervous breakdown because that is the only thing that would be able to explain his behavior.

Court documents show Fulk has worked at Papa John's for the past five years and that he was a welding student at Tidewater Community College.

"When I tried to get up, he come over and leaned over to me and he held it, the knife like he was going to stab me," Jim Hardee said.

The Hardees say Fulk then demanded to use a cell phone, the second call didn't go any better than the first.

"He went to dial on that and all of a sudden he just threw it against the wall," Jim Hardee said.

Police then showed up, and when Fulk saw them, Jim Hardee says he just walked right out, seeming as though he didn't have "a care in the world."

By then, Hardee says Fulk had been naked for a few minutes. Fulk faces a laundry list of charges, including breaking and entering, indecent exposure and threatening to malicious wound.

He is being held without bond. Court documents show prosecutors may also press charges for attempted murder. His next day in court is in September.
