Newport News, Va. - Newport News Police have found the inmate who managed to escape from the Newport News City Prison Farm on Thursday morning.

Police say the escape happened around 10:15 a.m. when 29-year-old Aaron M. Morrison scaled a razor-wire fence that was 8-10 feet high in the courtyard area.

Morrison was serving a three-year sentence for possession of cocaine, credit card theft, and assault and battery.

He had been at the City Farm since July 2012.

The Farm is a minimum security facility and because of that the inmates are not always under guard supervision. The escape happened while the inmates were at lunch outside.

Morrison was apprehended without incident shortly after 11:00 a.m. at Aquaduct Apartments in Newport News.

He is now charged with escape and will be in custody at the Newport News City Jail.

Police say the community played a large part in the capture of Morrison.
