Little girl writes poem to officer who helped to ease her fears during stop

Virginia Beach, Va. - Recently, a Beach officer was out patrolling when he ran the tags on a family's car.

He thought it had been stolen. So when the officer stopped the car carrying 10-year-old Natalie and her mother, Natalie got scared.

“I was thinking that she was going to get put in jail,” says Natalie. “So I just got worried and I just started breaking out in tears.”

But those tears didn't last long. Soon officer Jeff Leathers had her laughing.

Natalie appreciated him so much she wrote a poem.

Clearly, Natalie's mom's car wasn't stolen.

It turns out that mix up was caused by a clerical error at the DMV.
