Man killed on Chapel Street in Norfolk identified

Norfolk, Va. - Norfolk police are now investigating a homicide on Chapel Street.

They received calls at around 7:30 p.m. Tuesday night about a man who had been shot.

Police have identified the victim as Gilbert Demetrius Johnson.

Johnson's last known address is in the 2100 block of Rock Lake Loop in Virginia Beach, but he grew up in Tidewater Gardens. His family is not sure why he was in the area. Johnson's body was found in the street. Police say he was walking with his daughter when he was approached by the two suspects. The suspects used a handgun, police say. Johnson was pronounced dead at the scene.

Police are searching for two suspects. The first suspect is described as a black male in his early 30s, heavy set, wearing a white t-shirt and dark colored pants. The second suspect is described as a black male in his late 20s, tall, with a thin build, and wearing dark colored pants.
