Chesapeake, Va. – The Chesapeake Police Department has issued a warning for citizens, regarding solicitors in the area.

Recently, citizens have been approached by solicitors who claim they are offering services for water testing, drive-way repair, and other services. Subsequently, they have notified city officials to check their authenticity. The Chesapeake Police Department would like the public to be aware of the following:

If a solicitor approaches your residence you may ask him/her to show you their identification card (permit). It is against the law for any person to offer for sale items and/or services without a permit issued by the police department.

If you suspect the individual is soliciting without a permit, conducting inappropriate business, or acting suspicious, you should contact the Chesapeake Police Department at 757-382-6161. Police encourage citizens to visit cityofchesapeake.net to see the list of approved solicitors.
