Hampton, Va - City officials have decided to close the Hampton Coliseum Spring Carnival a week ahead of schedule after five teenagers were shot just outside the gate, one of those teens died.

Police say the violence started when two groups of teens were arguing Saturday night on Coliseum Drive when a gun was pulled out.

Witnesses told Newschannel 3 they heard around six shots.

Police found Ralphael Davis, Jr., 16 lying in the middle of the street. He was taken to the hospital, but did not make it.

Police say four other teens were also shot. They turned up in a parking lot close to where Davis was found.

A 14-year-old boy from Hampton was shot in the back and is in the hospital in critical condition.

A 17-year-old male from Newport News and an 18-year-old male from Hampton were both shot in the leg. Police say their injuries were non-life threatening.

A 16-year-old girl suffered a gunshot wound to the ankle and was treated and released.

No arrests have been made and police are asking anyone with information for help.

“That person is going to get theirs as far as the situation that happened that's a bad situation,” said Isaiah Alston.

Alston says he met Davis at Bethel High School, but he knew the teen as Little Ralph.

“He wasn't like a trouble maker at all. He was like a cool person, mad-chill, but he got hung up with the wrong people and got caught up with the wrong crowd,” said Alston.

This is the second year in a row shots have been fired near the carnival.

Anyone with information regarding this shooting is asked to call the Crime Line at 1-888-LOCK-U-UP.
