Suffolk, Va.- Police have identified a woman who was shot and killed in Suffolk overnight. The victim has been identified as 27-year-old Diana Yvette Jones.

Around 20 or 30 shots rang out early Thursday morning, neighbors tell NewsChannel 3. It happened on Hunter Street just before 1:30 a.m.

Police say one woman was shot and killed, and another was taken to Sentara Norfolk General Hospital.

NewsChannel 3 asked her friend Bishop Staten what he was going to miss about her most, and he said, "Her smile. You know, a smile can brighten someone's day. And to not see that smile anymore, it hurts."

Staten says he was with her just hours before she died, singing karaoke at Applebees.

"I hugged her, I left, we said our good byes and stuff, but.... It's sad man. Enough Is enough! This has been going on too long. You can't even sit on your own front porch anymore!"

As for the other victim, Corey Wiggins says it's his mom, Veronica Conjo Wiggins-Ingram. He saw both his mom and Jones get shot.

"A bullet went between me and my mom cause the bullet that hit my friend one passed her and hit her so bullets just, i dodged both of them," Corey Wiggins said.

He told NewsChannel 3 his mother is in the hospital with bullet wounds to her hand and shoulder.

"Its just something you can't explain man you only go through it if you experience it like it leaves you loss like bitter like," Wiggins added.

Police say they still don't know who shot the women or why it happened.

Friends and neighbors say they plan to hold a vigil for Jones sometime this weekend.
