One of the two people arrested for setting fires on the Eastern Shore is set to appear in court today

State Police: “This is the beginning of the end.”

40-year-old Tonya Bundick is scheduled to be arraigned on the felony charges of arson and conspiracy.

State Police say Bundick and her boyfriend, a former firefighter, are responsible for the majority of the arsons on the Eastern Shore.

Less than two months before they were supposed to get married, Bundick and Charles Smith, also known as Charlie Applegate, are in jail.

Investigators believe this couple is responsible for setting fires almost daily since November.

Out of the 77 arsons on the Eastern Shore, no community was hit harder than Parksley - the same area where these two suspects shared a home.

16 structures were either damaged or destroyed by flames.

Neighbors were shocked to learn the couple charged with arson lived on the same street.

State Police say they don't have a motive right now.

But according to arrest warrants - Smith, a one-time captain with Tasley Volunteer Fire Department, admitted to many of the arsons.

Smith has retained an attorney, so his arraignment has been continued to a later date while Bundick is expected in an Accomack County courtroom later today.
