The + really matters, HTC OneX+ Review

When I heard I was getting ahold of the HTC’s OneX+, I really thought ‘it can’t be much better than the OneX’.  I was wrong.  The OneX+ is what the OneX should have been.  It’s fast, smooth, comes with Jelly Bean and blew my expectations away!

That was one of my biggest problems with the OneX, not Jelly Bean.   Having access to Google Now & Project Butter made this phone feel like a dream.  And it’s really thing and light.  I was really surprised each time I picked it up.  It also felt like the batter life was a little better as well.  I loaded up Ingress (my new obsession) on this and got about 2.5 -3 hours of solid playing time.  On my Galaxy Nexus, I get about 1.5-2 hours of playing time so that was nice.  The extra processor speed also helped the game feel a lot smoother.

I took a lot of pictures and the camera seems to be much better. Especially in lower light conditions.  I watched a lot of YouTube, played a lot of other ‘games’ and the screen was just a joy to use/watch.  It’s not the biggest or the best resolution out there, but I just felt/looked nice.  Oh and did I mention it was smooth?  I may be starting to rethink my stance on HTC Sense.  I’ve used a lot of home replacement apps, and Sense is starting to grow on me.  I can see why a lot of you out there like it.

So what didn’t I like?  The placement of the micro-USB charging port!  It’s on the side and I just can’t stand that. It should be on the bottom.  Simple as that.  <end rant>.  Honestly, that’s about all I didn’t like.  This phone was great, I didn’t want to send it back and probably kept it a few days longer than I should have because I enjoyed it so much.  If you’re still on Ice Cream Sandwich, you’ll  see the difference once you get the Jelly Bean update.  The changes as minor as they may be, change the device in so many ways.

Should you get the OneX+?  If it’s available for your carrier – I wouldn’t hesitate scooping it up.  You won’t be disappointed.  Already have one?  Let me know what you think of it!  Post a comment below or tweet me @Doctor_Droid.
