NORFOLK, Va. – The Virginia Zoo’s baby siamang experiments with hanging around during the Holiday Marketplace, pictured above on Saturday, Dec. 1, 2012.

The baby siamang was born Aug. 20 at the Virginia Zoo to mother, Hitam, and father, Bali.

Zoo officials say the baby will not be named until his or her sex has been confirmed.

Native to the rainforests of Southeast Asia, siamangs are the largest species of gibbon, and are critically endangered. Zoo guests can visit the siamang family this winter in their indoor playroom, and even in their outdoor habitat on warm days.
