According to the Hertford County Sheriff’s Office, two people are dead after a man allegedly shot himself and his wife. They say he also wounded his 5-year-old daughter.
Police say they received the call at 9:42 a.m. on Friday about a man who had shot his wife and himself.
The man has been identified as 56-year-old William McCutcheon, Jr. of 104 Whitley Circle in Winton, NC.
They say McCutcheon’s wife, Catherine Piver McCutcheon, 40, was going to the home with her uncle across the driveway from William’s home to get her things and load them into a U-Haul.
Police say William then came out of his home to talk to her, went back into his home and then returned to her home. Police say he then fired three shots. He shot his wife in the chest, the daughter in the side abdomen and he then shot himself in the head.
Both adults were dead when police arrived. The 5-year-old was transported to Vidant RCH in Ahoskie. Police have not released any information about her condition.
