A group of disabled residents, people like Tanterrian Taylor, are getting dropped off without a sidewalk in sight every time they go to the Social Security Administration building.

Today, they went before the executive board of Hampton Roads Transit to ask for a new bus stop.

"I would like to see a shuttle run from Military Circle Mall, all the way back to the Social Security Administration building, once it's approved," says Taylor.

Tanterrian Taylor spread that very same message to the HRT board today.

She says it's way too hard, and way too dangerous as it is right now.

NewsChannel 3 showed you how the bus she takes to social security drops her off along Military Highway in the grass.

Then it's up to her to navigate her motorized chair 1,200 feet along the side of Military Highway.

Keep in mind, that's as cars, in some cases, are going 40 or 50 miles per hour.

She then has to continue down Lake Herbert Drive without a sidewalk.

"I'm taking a chance of getting hit. There's nowhere for me to hide, so where do you go?”

It's that much of a gamble for Regina Williams.

"The car was coming, and made a right turn and almost ran right into the back of my chair,” says Regina Williams.

The Hampton Roads Transit board promises to take the public comments into serious consideration.

HRT President William Harrell demanded an update in 30 days, which will pave the way toward a permanent solution.

That made Tanterrian Taylor happy.
