Report: Lt. Dan Band plays benefit concert to help Virginia marine

According to a report from, a Hollywood star and thousands of Virginians are helping build a new home for an injured marine.

On Thursday night, the man known as Lt. Dan played a benefit concert near Martinsville. The Lt. Dan Band was a hit with the crowd.

WDBJ7 reports that actor Gary Sinise was front and center during the concert. He plays bass guitar and played Lt. Dan in the movie Forrest Gump. Sinise named his band after his character in that film.

The Lt. Dan Band plays around the country raising money to help injured soldiers.
