Montgomery County, IL (KTVI) — A school bus and semi truck have crashed on southbound Interstate 55 just north of Litchfield, IL. Illinois State Police and local authorities are on the scene.
The Montgomery County Sheriff’s Department is reporting numerous injuries. A medical helicopter is on the scene to transport injured passengers.
Michael Sutton, superintendent of the Highland School District, says the bus was filled with 6th graders from Grantfork Upper Elementary. The students and several adults had been on a field trip to Springfield, IL and were returning home.
There is no word on the number of injuries.
