Police were on the scene of a homicide on 22nd Street and Chestnut Ave. in Newport News.
An officer notified Newport News dispatch about shots heard in the area and moments later, they received a call about a shooting.
A man has been pronounced dead at the scene.
Police have not released information about the suspects.
The victim has not been identified.

Magruder and Dunbar Elementary schools were placed on lock down as a precaution for a short period of time.
Apparently, there was at least one school bus unloading children at least a block away from the shooting.
