A Norfolk high school student got the surprise of her lifetime today.
Micah LeMelle was worried at first when they called her to the principal's office.
She thought she was in trouble but then she saw her parents standing there.
They handed her a letter confirming she'd won the prestigious "Gates Millennium Scholarship."
It's a full ride to any college or university of Micah's choosing and it pays for her education through the completion of a doctorate degree.
And the timing of this couldn't be more perfect; the family sat down just last night to talk about planning to pay for college.
Micah says she just visited William and Mary last week and is very happy she'll have a way to pay for it.
She plans to major in international relations and minor in public health.
Her passion is helping people.
