Jackie Faye

Jackie Faye joined Newschannel 3 in May of 2013.

She previously worked as a military defense contractor under the Joint Chiefs of Staff. Her focus was media training for top military officials during exercises around the world.

Reporting is in Jackie’s blood. She landed her first gig at CNN when she was only 12; although it was behind a fake desk in the gift shop, the experience got the ball rolling.

Before moving to Virginia, she reported in Raleigh, N.C., at NBC 17. While there, she was honored for her coverage of drug shortages in 2012. After her report aired, a federal class action lawsuit was filed on behalf of cancer patients who could not access lifesaving chemotherapy drugs.

In 2011, she was named a journalism fellow by The Funds of American Studies in Washington, D.C.

She also reported and produced in Columbia, S.C., at WIS News 10 (NBC). There, she uncovered a daycare that hired a sex offender and revealed problems a university had with its records.

Her first reporting job was in Oklahoma City, O.K. The Oklahoma City Police took Jackie on several undercover operations including a prostitution sting. She was also in the courtroom for the cannibalistic murder trial of Kevin Underwood. Underwood was sentenced to death. The most meaningful story she covered out west was the anniversary of the Oklahoma City bombing.

While studying Broadcast Journalism at the University of South Carolina, she studied abroad in Salamanca, Spain, interned with G.Gordon Liddy and Alan Nathan at Radio America in Washington, D.C., and was one of two interns for Fox News Channel's Special Report w/ Brit Hume in Washington, D.C. She also attended Georgetown University's Institute of Political Journalism.

She got her first subpoena in college when she interviewed a man who was charged with murder two days later. She did not know while questioning the man about a gang shooting that she was talking to the gunman. After a three-month investigation she had connected five shootings, two of which were murders.

While not reporting, you will probably find Jackie at the gym or running around town. She is a certified aerobics instructor and volunteers with Ainsley's Angels -- an organization that helps people with disabilities participate in sporting events. She also volunteers for Big Brothers Big Sisters.

If you have an idea for her she would love to hear from you. Feel free to email her anytime.
