    Chesapeake, Va- What happens when sweet smells turn into fiery flames? One Chesapeake resident experienced the consequences of burning incense. Chesapeake fire officials rushed to the 1600 block of Rhodes Street on Friday due to a small residential fire. The fire started around 5 pm.     Man flown to hospital with life-threatening injuries

    Hampton, Va- One man was flown to the hospital on Friday with life-threatening injuries after he departed a moving van. Just before noon, Hampton police responded to reports of a man down on Pine Chapel Road, near the Coliseum Gardens apartment complex. According to Hampton police, the passenger exited the back seat, while the car was still moving. Following the incident, the driver stopped and turned around.     Burke, Va- One northern Virginian woman proved that not even her own graduation could keep her away from true love. Jane Pickett was supposed to graduate from her New York-based high school 75 years ago, but got married instead.     Security breach causes White House evacuation

    The White House was evacuated Friday night due to a major breach in security. Minutes after President Barack Obama and his daughters boarded a helicopter to leave the White House, an intruder jumped the fence of the executive mansion. Secret Service agents immediately evacuated White House employees from the West Wing. According to CBS affiliate WNEW, the evacuation was lifted at 8 pm, as the suspect was detained.     Melbourne, Australia – No one expects a goldfish to live past a few months, but one fish has beaten those odds. George the goldfish is a miracle to say the least. The 10-year-old goldfish underwent life-threatening tumor surgery last Thursday at Lort Smith Animal Hospital in Melbourne, Australia.     $1.6 million grant puts VCU on the map!

    Richmond, Va. – Two professors at Virginia Commonwealth University put their school’s motto, “Make It Real” to the test. Bryce McLeod and Kevin Sutherland recently received a four-year grant that totaled to $1.6 million from the Institute of Education Sciences to help fund a treatment integrity program. The program is designed to help children with behavioral issues during their early childhood education.
