    UPDATE: Woman found dead near minivan in Virginia Beach identified

    Virginia Beach, Va. – Police are investigating after a woman was found dead near a minivan in the 1800 block of Winter Park Court at around 6:30 a.m. Sunday morning. The victim has been identified as Lanethia S. Ruggles, approximately 44 years old. Ruggles’ body was taken to the Medical Examiner’s office to determine the cause of death. Multiple detectives were called to the scene to investigate.

    Norfolk, Va. – Two boys and a girl have been hospitalized after a hit-and-run accident in Norfolk. Police say the accident happened around 4:11pm on Granby St. and 38th. The boys, ages 11 and 5, and the girl, 7, were crossing the street inside the crosswalk toward Lafayette Park when a dark blue Toyota Camry struck all three children.     James City County, Va. – One man was killed and three people were injured in a single vehicle accident on I-64 Saturday morning. The accident happened at 10:57am at mile marker 227. A 2007 Toyota Tacoma was traveling westbound when the vehicle was cut off by another vehicle, according to Virginia State Police.     Police investigating possible early morning parking lot shooting in Norfolk

    Norfolk, Va.- Police are investigating a possible early morning shooting in a Norfolk parking lot. Police received a call around 12:20 Saturday morning of a possible shooting victim in the in the lot in the 3300 block of N. Military Highway. Once on scene they located a man suffering from an injury consistent with a gunshot wound. He was taken to the hospital with non-life threatening injuries. There is no suspect information at this time and the investigation is ongoing.

    PORTSMOUTH, Va. — The Coast Guard assisted eight people Saturday aboard a recreational fishing boat that was taking on water approximately 45 miles east of Cape Henry.     Washington DC,-The Redskins have cut three of their running backs this morning.  Evan Royster, Chris Thompson, and rookie Lache Seastrunk.  Phillip Thomas, Chase Minnifield and Everette Brown, and Zack Hocker have also been given their walking papers. Redskins keep Kai Forbath and Silas Redd for the 2014 season.
