  • Pro Golfer Marc Leishman and wife volunteer in Blessings in a Backpack program

    Virginia Beach, Va. – Pro golfer and Virginia Beach native, Marc Leishman, and his wife, Audrey, were at Seatack Elementary School Thursday afternoon stuffing backpacks full of food for students in need with the Blessings in a Backpack program. Blessings in a Backpack is designed to feed elementary school children whose families qualify for the federally funded National School Lunch Program and have little to no food on the weekends. Leishman also made a donation to Blessings in a Backpack.

    Norfolk, Virginia  – Police are investigating a robbery at the 7-Eleven on West Little Creek Road near Granby Street. Police dispatchers say the robbery happened around 2:15 a.m. The store clerk told police that a man walked in, displayed a gun, and demanded money.     Update: Chesapeake Bay Bridge Tunnel wind restriction lifted

    UPDATE: The level one wind restriction for the Chesapeake Bay Bridge Tunnel has been lifted.   The Chesapeake Bay Bridge Tunnel is currently operating on a Level 1 wind restriction. The means there are wind speeds of 40 miles per hour. The following types of vehicles are  not allowed to cross the bridge during the restriction: large pick-up campers, camper trailers, house trailers, anything being towed and vehicles with any exterior cargo.     UPDATE: Deputy vehicle rear-ended on the Berkley Bridge

    Norfolk, Virginia –  At least one person was injured when a car ran into the back of a Norfolk Sheriff’s Deputy marked vehicle on the Berkley Bridge. The accident happened on the westbound portion of the bridge shortly after 6:00 a.m. Thursday morning. The scene is now clear.

    Fire found in laundry facility at Newport News apartment complex

    Newport News, Virginia –  Fire officials are investigating the cause of an early morning fire in the laundry facility at Cottage Grove apartments in Newport News. The fire was called in shortly before 4:00am in the 5700 block of Fairfax Avenue. Officials say there was very little damage to the laundry facility and the fire was extinguished quickly. No one was injured.
