    Three people have been confirmed dead in a plane crash at Norfolk Botanical Garden, according to State Police. The aircraft was found in the Enchanted Forest section off of Azalea Garden Road.

  • Water main break closes portion of George Washington Highway

    Chesapeake, Virginia – Both northbound lanes of the 1200 block of George Washington Highway near Canal Drive are closed due to a water main break. Traffic is being directed through the center turn lane. Crews will be working to repair the break through rush hour. Expect major traffic delays on Route 17N and Canal Drive.

    One person was killed in an accident on the James River Bridge, southbound Route 17 shortly after midnight.

    A Norfolk teen was shot to death inside a home on Wilson Road shortly before midnight Monday evening.

    Man working on railroad track in Chesapeake hit by train

    Chesapeake, Virginia – Police are investigating an industrial accident where a man was hit by a train in the 400 block of Freeman Avenue. Police say the man was an employee of Norfolk & Portsmouth Belt Line and was working on the track when he was hit in the leg by an oncoming train. He was transported to the hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

    Currituck County Schools, Camden County Schools will release early due to weather

    Click here for the complete list of early dismissals Currituck County, NC – According to Assistant Superintendent Sandy Kinzel, Currituck County schools will operate on an early release schedule today due to a winter weather advisory issued for the area. Also — Camden County Schools will be closing at 12:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Early release schedules vary by school start time, but generally begin at 11:30 a.m. for early start schools and 12:30 p.m. for later starting schools.

    **UPDATE** All CBBT wind restrictions have been lifted. The Chesapeake Bay Bridge Tunnel is currently operating on  Level 2 wind restrictions. Winds are in excess of 47 miles per hour.   • Pro Golfer Marc Leishman and wife volunteer in Blessings in a Backpack program

    Virginia Beach, Va. – Pro golfer and Virginia Beach native, Marc Leishman, and his wife, Audrey, were at Seatack Elementary School Thursday afternoon stuffing backpacks full of food for students in need with the Blessings in a Backpack program. Blessings in a Backpack is designed to feed elementary school children whose families qualify for the federally funded National School Lunch Program and have little to no food on the weekends. Leishman also made a donation to Blessings in a Backpack.

    Norfolk, Virginia  – Police are investigating a robbery at the 7-Eleven on West Little Creek Road near Granby Street. Police dispatchers say the robbery happened around 2:15 a.m. The store clerk told police that a man walked in, displayed a gun, and demanded money.     UPDATE: The level one wind restriction for the Chesapeake Bay Bridge Tunnel has been lifted.   The Chesapeake Bay Bridge Tunnel is currently operating on a Level 1 wind restriction. The means there are wind speeds of 40 miles per hour. The following types of vehicles are  not allowed to cross the bridge during the restriction: large pick-up campers, camper trailers, house trailers, anything being towed and vehicles with any exterior cargo.
