    A dead body, found floating in the James River Sunday evening, has been identified. The Virginia Marine Resources Commission saying a jet-skier found Kenneth Leary from Lanexa, Virginia around 7:30 last night.

  • Car crashes into building in Norfolk

    Norfolk, Va.- Around 5:30 pm, a car crashed into a building on the 700 block of Newtown Rd. at the Stoney Point Center.   • Restaurant equipment store catches fire in Virginia Beach

    Virginia Beach, Va.- Firefighters fought a fire in a restaurant equipment store on Witchduck Rd. off of 264. The fire started around 6 pm and police say no one was hurt. The business was closed and the north and southbound lanes of Witchduck Rd. were closed for about an hour and a half, reopening at 7:15 pm. As of right now, the cause of the fire is undetermined.     Norfolk, Va.- Dozens of people came to a Peace March at the Dr. Martin Luther King Junior Memorial on Saturday. The annual “Stop the Violence” basketball tournament in Newport News happened Sunday night. The tournament started 6 years ago and was organized by Ruqiyah Muhammad, who was raised in Newport News and noticed that her streets were getting more dangerous.     Coast Guard medevacs woman boating near Atlantic Beach

    Wilmington, N.C.- The Coast Guard medevaced a 57 year old woman Sunday near Atlantic Beach in North Carolina. The boat operator reported a woman on board was suffering from sea-sickness and was losing consciousness at 12:15 pm. The Coast Guard station at Fort Macon launched a 47-foot Motor Lifeboat (MLB) crew to assist. The MLB crew arrived on scene, placed the woman on oxygen and took her to the MLB.     Tides on a six game winning streak against the Rochester Red Wings

    The Tides brought home their sixth straight win against the Rochester Red Wings Saturday night. In the first inning, Norfolk plated a run from a sack fly by Dariel Alvarez. The Tides held on their lead in the seventh inning when they brought in three more runs leading 4-0. The Red Wings scored two runs in the top of the eighth but it wasn’t enough. The Tides won 4 to 2.

    Woman shot in Hampton marks the city’s third shooting of the weekend

    Clean-up efforts continue in Virginia Beach

    Virginia Beach, Va.- Clean up efforts continue after an E-F 0 tornado and straight line winds tore through Virginia Beach’s Oceanfront on Thursday. On Sunday, some people were still trying to get repairs done to their roofs and windows while picking up all the branches that were tossed around when the tornado hit. With each passing day it’s looking a little bit better.

    Kwaume Edwards is in jail tonight accused of his third murder in 8 years. Edwards was accused of murdering 28 year old Johnathon Bradely Coles back in May but had been a fugitive on the run until Saturday. After an hour and a half standoff with Police outside a hotel in Newport News, Kwaume Edwards was finally arrested.     UPDATE: The AMBER Alert issued for┬áDustin Wade Shaver was terminated Sunday morning at about 7:18 a.m. Shaver was located in Benson, North Carolina and is safe. All 3 suspects are in custody in North Carolina and have been charged with Abduction. Denise Shaver (mother) and Kevin Parrish are both being held in the Johnston County Jail.     Two cars burn at Norfolk flea market

    Norfolk, Va.- Smoke was seen in the sky miles away after a fire at Ingram’s Flea Market on Military Highway around Noon on Saturday. Fire investigators are still looking into what caused the fire but say it was contained to two cars at the Auto Parts shop there. No buildings were damaged and no one was injured.
