    VDOT contractor shocked while working near HRBT

    Hampton, Va. – A VDOT contractor has been taken to the hospital after he was shocked while working on the Hampton Roads Bridge Tunnel on Thursday. The victim was a worker for EG Middleton. The company is doing work at the HRBT for VDOT. While in a ventilation building, the worker was replacing electrical distribution equipment and was hurt.     Newport News, Va. – A 22-year-old man was shot in Newport News on Thursday. This happened at around 2:39 p.m. in the 600 block of Dresden Drive. When officers arrived on the scene, they found a man who was suffering from gunshot wounds. He was taken to the hospital with what they say may be possible life-threatening injuries but he is expected to survive. This is the 4th shooting in five weeks at the complex.     A mom was on her way to work when her toddler made one simple request. “Don’t leave me,” asked little two-year-old Mila. Her mother,  Nina Tunstalle, posted it on Facebook and the video has been shared over 12,000 times. Tunstalle obviously had a difficult time telling little Mila she had to go to work. “My heart broke into a million pieces this morning,” she posted on the video.

    Hampton hires new superintendent

    Hampton, Va. – Starting this summer, Hampton will have a new superintendent. On Wednesday night, the Hampton School Board approved Dr. Jeffery O. Smith as the new superintendent. He is scheduled to take his position starting on July 1st. The current superintendent, Dr. Linda Shifflette, is retiring after six years.     Poquoson, Va. – A 12-year-old was hit by a vehicle while riding his bike in Poquoson on Wednesday. This happened near the intersection of Wythe Creek Road and Victory Blvd. The child was trying to cross Victory Boulevard between two cars.
