    Crews put out fire aboard USS Gunston Hall

    Norfolk, Va. – While the USS Gunston Hall was going through a maintenance availability, a fire erupted on the amphibious dock landing ship. This happened at around 2 p.m. at the NASSCO/Earl Industries shipyard in Portsmouth. Officials say the fire started in an unmanned storeroom below the main deck.     Virginia Beach man to serve 30 years behind bars for abusing son: “I felt myself losing control”

    Virginia Beach, Va. – Charles Adam Potter will spend the next 30 years behind bars after officials say he severely abused his 5-month-old son back in 2012. Potter, 32, was sentenced to 90 years in prison with 60 years suspended leaving 30 to serve. This far exceeded the recommended maximum which is 12 years and 8 months.   • Former Virginia cab driver accused of terrorism captured

    A former northern Virginia cab driver on the FBI’s “most-wanted terrorists” list has been captured. They’ve captured Haji Mohamed. The FBI says the 29-year-old left the U.S. in July of 2012 to join al-Qaeda in Somalia which is where he was found. There’s no word yet on whether he will face extradition.

    Norfolk, Va. – No one was hurt when a car crashed into a 7-Eleven on Princess Anne Road in Norfolk. This is near Azalea Garden Road. Police say the car went through the window around 8:40 p.m. Police have yet to say if the driver is facing any charges.

    Chesapeake, Va. – A family is devastated after a young mother was killed in a hit and run accident last week. The victim was identified as 29-year-old Jamie Freeman.     Chesapeake, Va. – Have you seen the man in the photo? If so, police need your help to identify him. They say he passed six fraudulent checks at a bank in the 1400 block of Stephanie Way.
