    Bra-ha-ha: And the winners are…

    Chesapeake, Va. – The 2015 Bra-ha-ha was held Friday night at the Chesapeake Conference Center. The creative design event sponsored by the Chesapeake Regional Health Foundation promotes breast cancer awareness and raises money for free mammograms. NewsChannel 3’s Barbara Ciara helped judge the competition. First place went to Sandy May who designed “Broken Parts Do Not Mean Broken Hearts,” second place “Guess What Day It Is”, and in third place was “T-Time.” All the bras will be on display at Greenbrier Mall in Chesapeake.

    One person shot in Virginia Beach

    Virginia Beach, Va. – One person has been shot in the city of Virginia Beach. This happened in the 5700 block of School House Road outside of Tallwood Apartments off Kempsville Road. There’s no information about the severity of this person’s injuries. Police say the victim was alive when transported to the hospital. No arrests have been made. Police are still searching for clues in this case.

    Man killed by CSX Train in Newport News

    Newport News, Va. – A man was killed in Newport News on Thursday night after he was hit by a CSX Train. Officials say they received a call about the incident at 6:10 p.m. The incident happened under the J.  Clyde Morris Boulevard overpass. Police and medics found a man dead at the scene. Witnesses say the man was standing next to the tracks and stepped into the path of the train. Crews are on the scene investigating now.

    Documents: RG III’s father found guilty of reckless driving; sentenced to Hampton jail

    Hampton, Va. – Robert Griffin, Jr, Quarterback Robert Griffin, III’s father, will spend 10 days behind bars after he was found guilty of reckless driving. According to documents, he was driving at 115 mph on I-64 on Sunday, August 2nd. He was stopped near Hampton Roads Center Parkway. Griffin was found guilty and sentenced to 60 days in jail with 50 suspended. He will serve a total of 10 days on consecutive weekends starting on October 2nd. He was also […]

    Authorities investigate HAZMAT situation in Virginia Beach

    Virginia Beach, Va. – Crews were called out to the scene of a HAZMAT situation in the 1600 block of Emmerton Court. Calls about the incident came in at 9:25 p.m. After an investigation, crews say they found a suspicious  package. They tested it and nothing was found. No one was injured.     Newport News Walgreens Pharmacy evacuated after compactor fire

    Newport News, Va. – A Walgreens Pharmacy in Newport News had to be evacuated on Thursday afternoon after a compactor fire caused the building to fill with smoke.     Man accused of abducting, raping juvenile

    Norfolk, Va. – A 21-year-old Norfolk man has been accused of abducting and raping a juvenile. Police say Donald R. Dunn III f the 7000 block of Gardner Road was arrested on August 18th. He was charged with abduction, rape, use of electronic means for child sex and possession of child porn. A juvenile told police that Dunn sexually assaulted her on August 10th.     Norfolk, Va. – Three men are wanted for robbing a Norfolk 7-Eleven on Monday morning. This occurred after 12:30 a.m. at the 5200 Colley Avenue location. The three men walked into the store with their faces covered and demanded money from the clerk. After getting the cash, they ran away.     Police investigate arson of abandoned building in Newport News

    Newport News, Va. – Authorities in Newport News are investigating after they say someone set an abandoned building on fire causing thousands in damage. At around 7:40 p.m., crews responded to reports of smoke coming from a building in the 12500 Block of Warwick Blvd. in the Hidenwood Section of the city.     Hobucken, NC – Two people had to be rescued when they encountered bad weather near Hobucken. A man and a woman were on a sailboat called the Sentimental Journey in the Neuse River.
