    Severe thunderstorm watch canceled for Northeast North Carolina, Isle of Wight County and Southampton

    Update: This watch has now been canceled.  A severe thunderstorm watch is in effect for Northeast North Carolina, Isle of Wight County and Southampton until 11 p.m. This includes Bertie, Camden, Chowan, Currituck, Gates, Hertford, Northampton, Pasquotank, and Perquimans and all of Hampton Roads. We’ll continue to post more updates as we learn more.

    Update: This warning has now expired.  A severe thunderstorm warning has been issued for Camden County, Currituck County and Northwest Pasquotank until 10 p.m. These storms could produce damaging winds in excess of 60 mph and deadly lightning. Please move into an interior  room on the lowest floor of your home or business. This storm could also produce heavy rain. Stay with NewsChannel 3 for more updates.

  • UPDATE: Norfolk mother kills 8-year-old daughter before taking her own life; woman now identified

    UPDATE: A woman and an 8-year-old girl were found dead inside of a Norfolk home on Wednesday.  Police have now released the cause of death for both victims and the name of the adult.  They say the child died as a result of a gunshot wound and the woman, identified as 48-year-old Karla M.     Tractor trailer driver cut with his own knife during robbery in Chesapeake

    Chesapeake, Va. – A tractor trailer driver told police that when he walked into a wooded area to use the restroom, he was knocked to the ground and robbed by two people. Police went to the scene at 9:20 p.m. on Tuesday, July 23rd. This happened in the 2700 block of Trade Street.     Friends spot amazing message in the clouds at teacher’s funeral

    Renee Parr, a 30-year-old teacher in Mechanicsville, died suddenly. At her funeral, someone snapped a picture and captured an amazing message spelled out in the clouds above.     Bradenton Beach, Fla. – A grandmother was furious when she says she saw two people having sex in front of dozens of people who were also on the beach. To show police what was happening, she took out her cell phone and started recording. According to myfox8.com, The Florida couple was arrested last weekend.     Chesapeake, Va. – A 50-year-old Chesapeake man has been arrested and charged after police say they found items consistent with making meth inside of the vehicle he was driving. On July 22nd at around 4:50 p.m., Chesapeake Police conducted a traffic stop at the intersection of Sparrow and Providence Roads.
