    Norfolk, Va. – Norfolk fire crews helped Navy sailors put out a fire aboard the USS Cole at Marine Hydraulics Thursday night. 24 Norfolk firefighters were dispatched to the Cole at 8:42pm and assisted the Navy with fire control and overhaul efforts.     Portsmouth, Va. – The director of public utilities in Portsmouth has submitted his resignation.  Bryan Foster will be the 5th top official to leave in the last four months.  Two others were terminated.     Child flown to hospital after near drowning in Corolla

    Corolla, NC – A child had to be airlifted to the hospital after a near drowning in Corolla. According to Mary Beth Currituck with Emergency Management, calls came in about the incident at around 6:59 p.m. This happened on 604 Saltspray Court.     Portsmouth’s Director of General Services resigns

    Portsmouth, Va. – Portsmouth’s Director of General Services has resigned. Dennis Bagley left on Tuesday. Interim City Manager Brannon Godfrey appointed Bryan Foster as the acting Director of General Services. He is now the Director of Public Utilities. Bryan will work both positions for now. Back in April, several other top officials vacated their positions. City Manager John Rowe and City Attorney George Willson were terminated. Rowe had previously announced he was resigning in June and Willson was planning to retire in December. […]
