    Chesapeake, Va. – A man riding a bicycle has died as a result of a crash involving a tractor trailer, according to Chesapeake police. The call came in to police at 5:51 a.m. on Friday.     SUV found burning in field near I-264 in Portsmouth

    Portsmouth, Va. – An SUV was found burning in a field off of Cavalier Boulevard near I-264 shortly after 9 a.m. Thursday morning. No one was found inside of the vehicle, but police believe the vehicle was stolen from Norfolk. Investigators responded to the scene, as well as firefighters. “The vehicle has been pretty much torched,” according to a fire investigator.   • Crews put out fire at Suffolk business

    Suffolk, Va. – Fire crews put out a fire at Uptown Varieties in Suffolk early Thursday morning. The call about the fire in the 400 block of Carolina Rd. came in at 1:51am. There were no injuries in the fire, and the business was closed at the time. Firefighters have left the scene, while investigators remain trying to determine the cause of the blaze.

  • Man shot in the shoulder in Portsmouth

    Portsmouth, Va. – A man was hospitalized after he was shot in the shoulder in Portsmouth early Tuesday morning. The shooting happened in the 6000 block of Churchland Blvd. around 3:59am. The man was transported to Sentara Norfolk General Hospital with what appeared to be non-life threatening injuries. No suspect information or motive is available at this time.   • Student, driver suffer minor injuries after FedEx truck sideswipes school bus

    Virginia Beach, Va. – One student and a bus driver were taken to a hospital with minor injuries from broken glass after a FedEx truck sideswiped Virginia Beach School Bus #325 this morning. 16 students were on the bus at the time of the accident, which happened around 8:11am near the intersection of Damascus Trail and Holland Road.   • Centerville Turnpike Bridge closed through Sunday

    Chesapeake, Va. – A mechanical issue at the Centerville Turnpike Bridge requires its immediate closure this morning to allow crews to start repairs, according to Chesapeake city officials. The issue was discovered Friday morning when the bridge had to be hand-cranked for an opening, which can take upwards of 45 minutes.
