    Chesterfield, Va. – A Chesterfield school bus driver is accused of lying about her child having terminal cancer. Her goal was to get money from her co-workers. Police say they think 26-year-old Katie Patterson was able to collect more than two-thousand dollars in donations over the course of four months. Police say when they confronted her about the money after her arrest, she said it was used to pay bills and buy christmas presents.

  • Portsmouth Police investigating shooting in Olde Towne

    Portsmouth, Va. – Portsmouth Police are investigating a shooting that took place on Effingham and South Street in the Olde Towne section of Portsmouth. The call came in at 7:33 p.m. Investigators say that around ten minutes later, a man walked into the hospital with a gunshot wound. No word yet on if the two incidents are connected.

Suffolk Fire and Rescue crews responded to a call of a home fire earlier this morning on the 600 block of First Avenue.   • Portsmouth police investigating church fire on Chestnut Street

    Portsmouth, Va. – Portsmouth Police responded to a call after 1p.m. today from a church that smelled smoke. The church is “Fullness of God’s Ministry”  is located on the 2200 block of Chestnut Street. Portsmouth Fire Department arrived to the scene and were able to get the fire under control within 15-20 minutes. The building has smoke damage but fortunately, no injuries.     Prince George County, Va. – A Virginia teen is in custody after police say he shot and killed his mother’s boyfriend. Investigators say it happened in Prince George county yesterday afternoon. When police got there they found 38-year-old Dustin Wilfong in the driveway suffering from a gunshot wound. Medics took Wilfong to the hospital where he later died.
