28-year-old Hampton man dies in motorcycle crash

HAMPTON, Va. – A 28-year-old Hampton man has died after a motorcycle crash at the intersection of Greenbriar Avenue and Victoria Boulevard Thursday.

Dispatchers received a call in reference to a two-vehicle crash involving a motorcycle shortly before 5 p.m. When officers arrived at the scene, they found a motorcycle and a blue Dodge Charger that had been involved in a crash.

The driver of the motorcycle, 28-year-old Dontae Lamont Cooke of Hampton, was taken to a local hospital, where he died shortly after arrival. A two-year-old girl that was a passenger in the Dodge Charger was also taken to the hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

A preliminary investigation revealed that the driver of the Dodge Charger was crossing the intersection southbound on Greenbrier Avenue when he or she was struck by a motorcycle that was speeding eastbound on Victoria Boulevard.

The crash is under investigation by the Hampton Police Division’s Accident Reconstruction Team.
