HAMPTON, Va. – A 14-year-old boy has been hospitalized after suffering from a gunshot wound at a Langley Air Force Base housing community, officials with Joint Base Langley-Eustis said Tuesday night.

Authorities were called to the 60th block of Eagle Loop in the Landings at Langley just after 7 p.m. Tuesday night.

The boy, identified as a military dependent, was shot in the leg, officials say. He was taken to a local hospital and is said to be stable.

The 633rd Security Forces are currently working with the York-Poquoson Sheriff’s Office during this investigation.

After an investigation officials said the incident was not a drive-by shooting. The victim was allegedly involved in illegal activity with the suspect when he was shot, police said.

No suspects have been identified but the sheriff’s office has posted a picture of the suspect’s vehicle and asks anyone with any information to contact them at 757-890-4999 or the Crime Line at 1-888-LOCK-U-UP.
