NEWPORT NEWS, Va. - Newport News Police are investigating after two men robbed a Metro PCS store Saturday evening.

According to police, two black men entered the store in the 12900 block of Jefferson Avenue just before 6:30 p.m. and one of the men was armed with a gun.

An employee and a customer with his family were inside the store during the robbery.

"A lot of stuff happens this time of year, it's just not safe," said an employee with the store.

No one was hurt, but two robbers took cash from the store as well as the customer's wallet before running away.

While police are still investigating the robbery the store is back open, but the store is taking efforts by keeping the front door locked during business hours, allowing only one person in at a time.

Employees, like the one News 3 spoke with today, said they are taking measure into their own hands to stay safe.

" I had to bring my dog to work today, and told my manager I'm going to bring him everyday just to make sure I'm safe," said the employee.

The employee also told News 3 that no changes have been made to the police department patrolling the area in her opinion, and that they are (Metro PCS Store) not the only one's who get robbed in the area.
