Lockdown lifted at Virginia State University after campus shooting

ETTRICK, Va. – A lockdown at Virginia State University has been lifted after a shooting on the campus Saturday night.

VSU and Chesterfield police were dispatched to the 1 block of Hayden Street for a report of a shooting around 8:25 p.m.

VSU Police‏ posted on Twitter at 9 p.m. that the university was on lockdown because of the shooting.

Officers found a man with a gunshot wound.

According to officials, the victim was taken to the hospital with injuries that were non life-threatening.

The shooting happened during the university’s homecoming weekend. A concert took place at 8 p.m. at the school’s Multi-Purpose Center.
