Motorcyclist critically injured in Monday morning crash on Granby Street

NORFOLK, Va. – A motorcyclist was critically injured Monday morning in a crash on Granby Street.

The crash occurred near the intersection of Granby Street and Brackenridge Road.

Norfolk Police say they were called to the scene just before 7:20 a.m. and arrived to find the motorcyclist lying in the street.

The man was transported to Sentara Norfolk General Hospital with life threatening injuries.

The preliminary investigation has revealed that a Honda sedan was traveling northbound on Granby Street and attempted to make a left turn across the southbound lanes. The Honda pulled into oncoming traffic and was hit by the motorcycle, which was traveling southbound.

The motorcyclist was thrown from his bike as a result of the crash.

The driver of the Honda remained at the scene and charges are pending. The driver of the Honda was not injured.
