Phil Taylor injury

LOUDOUN COUNTY, Va. – Injuries have prevented Redskins starting nose tackle Phil Taylor from playing in an NFL game since 2014. His latest injury will cost him the 2017 season.

Tuesday, Redskins head coach Jay Gruden confirmed Taylor tore his quad during Sunday’s preseason game vs. Cincinnati and will miss the entire season.

“I feel terrible for Phil because he did a great job at getting himself ready to play,” Gruden said. “He’s in excellent shape but it’s just an unfortunate injury. The rest of the guys have got to step up.”

ESPN’s John Keim was first to report the news.

Washington signed Taylor in January. In 44 career games, all with Cleveland, Taylor has 109 tackles and seven sacks.
