Suspect arrested for bomb threat that closed Isle of Wight County courthouse

ISLE OF WIGHT CO., Va. – A bomb threat forced everyone to evacuate from the Isle of Wight County Young-Laine Courts building on July 5.

According to the Isle of Wight County Sheriff’s Office, the bomb threat was called in around 9:30 a.m. to the Circuit Court Clerk’s office.

Authorities were investigating the building to eliminate the possibility of any real threats.

On August 10 officials said they arrested a man in connection with the threat.

42-year-old Anthony Highsmith has been charged with on two felonies which include threats to bomb or damage building and use of a phone or other device to threaten or intimidate.

Highsmith was taken to Western Tidewater Regional jail without bond.
