Virginia Beach Police arrest suspect in TCC attempted armed assault

VIRGINIA BEACH, Va. – Police have taken a suspect in custody in connection with an incident at TCC on Wednesday.

The TCC incident happened on the Virginia Beach campus when a man entered a bathroom and tried to assault an instructor.

Jarod Jones – charged with brandishing a firearm, abduction, possession of a firearm by a convicted felon, use of firearm in the commission of a felon and revocation of a suspended sentence.

On June 30 around 10 p.m., officers spotted the suspect in a vehicle and attempted to pull him over near the intersection of Holland Road and Dam Neck Road.

The suspect drove off in the vehicle and led officers on a pursuit that ended at 1301 Oceana Blvd., where the suspect crashed his vehicle.

The suspect was taken into custody and taken to a local hospital with minor injuries.

Police have identified him as 38-year-old Jarod Jamale Jones of Virginia Beach.

He is charged with brandishing a firearm, abduction, possession of a firearm by a convicted felon, use of firearm in the commission of a felon and revocation of a suspended sentence.

Police say further charges are pending.

The case remains under investigation.
