NEWPORT NEWS, Va-  Newport News Police are investigating a robbery and shooting in the 2000 block of 25th Street.

Officials say two armed men walked into the Green City Supermarket and demanded money from the clerk.

That’s when a physical altercation broke out and both suspects fired multiple shots at the clerk before running off with cash.

The 56-year-old clerk suffered from non-life threatening injuries and he was transported to a local hospital for treatment.

After being evaluated in the hospital, it was determined that the victim was struck by debris from where the bullets struck the floor and other items in the store.

Officers say one of the suspects wore a yellow shirt, blue jeans, and a black scarf around his face.  The second suspect was wearing a red shirt, dark blue jeans, and a ski mask.
