Lilton Fenton Batten is charged with 1st Degree Murder, Use of a Firearm in the Commission of a Felony, and Possession of a Firearm by a non-violent Felon
NEWPORT NEWS, Va. – A 61-year-old woman was shot and killed on Thursday in Newport News and police have arrested her husband for the crime.
Newport News Police responded to the 7700 block of Wickham Avenue just after 4:30 p.m.
When officers arrived, they found 61-year-old Rosalee Parker-Batten suffering from multiple gunshot wounds. She was pronounced deceased at 4:45 p.m.
Her husband, 61-year-old Lilton Fenton Batten was arrested and charged with 1st Degree Murder, Use of a Firearm in the Commission of a Felony, and Possession of a Firearm by a non-violent Felon.
The motive for the shooting is unknown at this time.
