VIRGINIA BEACH, Va. - Flooded roads are causing issues for drivers in sections of Virginia Beach.

Portions of Sandbridge Road is covered in water, forcing the city to close the road completely at the intersection of Lotus Drive.

Residents tell News 3 southerly winds pushed ocean water into neighborhoods, causing flooding that was 'worse that Hurricane Matthew'.

"I have never seen it this bad," said Suzy Burlock, a resident of Indian Cove Resort, a nearby members only campground.

Residents hoping to get to the beach are being re-routed through the NAS Oceana Dam Neck Annex.

New Bridge Road, which is right off Sandbridge Road, is also flooded and closed.

Virginia Beach Police also report a section of Indian River Road is closed due to flooding. Officials say some roads in Pungo near the Pungo Ferry Bridge are flooded, including portions of Blackwater Road and West Neck Road.
