PORTSMOUTH, Va. – Police are investigating after a man was killed early Sunday morning.
It happened around 2 a.m. in the 2300 block of Charleston Avenue.
Officers arrived at the scene to find a man suffering from an apparent gunshot wound to the chest. He was pronounced deceased at the scene.
Police have identified him as 34-year-old Maurice Gore of Portsmouth.
As officers continued to investigate the shooting, dispatch notified them of a gunshot wound victim that just walked into the emergency room of a local hospital. Officers responded to the hospital and found an adult man with a gunshot wound to the upper chest. His injuries appeared to be non-life threatening.
