NORFOLK, Va. - Old Dominion University Police are investigating a report of sexual assault, according to an alert sent to students Monday.

The alert was from an incident that reportedly happened Saturday.

The victim said she believes her drink was tampered with at the Edge, a bar on Hampton Blvd.

After leaving the Edge between 12:30 - 1:10 a.m., she reported that an employee of the bar assaulted her in a nearby parking lot.

The investigation is ongoing and no further information is available at this time, the alert said.

Later Monday night the Edge owner William Baldwin released a statement about the report.

“We just became aware of any sort of allegations just a few hours ago, when the ODU text message alert came out. I promptly contacted ODU police to get more information about it. We didn’t know anything happened. Tomorrow, we will give them full access to our cameras inside and outside. They’re saying staff involvement and it’s really frustrating when we weren’t presented with anything that happened. We intend to cooperate fully. It’s important these are allegations – we will cooperate fully to rectify it. If something happened, we want to know and take care of the problem. We will work with police and ODU to resolve the matter. ”
