Patriots rally from 25-point deficit, force overtime, and win Super Bowl 51

HOUSTON, Texas – The New England Patriots came back from a 28-3 deficit in the second half to defeat the Atlanta Falcons in overtime 34-28 in Super Bowl 51.This is the Patriots fifth Super Bowl championship, all coming under the tenure of head coach Bill Belichick and Tom Brady.

Tom Brady threw for 466 yards and two touchdowns to lead the Patriots back. Brady was named Super Bowl 51 MVP, the fourth of his career.

The Falcons had a 25-point lead until two minutes were left on the clock in the third quarter. The Patriots would go on to score 31 unanswered points to win on a one-yard James White touchdown run in overtime.

This is the first-ever Super Bowl to go into overtime.
