Cat dies, family displaced in Chesapeake house fire

CHESAPEAKE, Va. – Firefighters responded to a one-story house fire in the 400 block of Waters Road.

Crews were dispatched to the scene Sunday at 10:45 a.m.

When they arrived, they saw some coming from the home. Firefighters were able to contain the fire to the kitchen, but there was smoke damage throughout the home.

The fire was under control at 11:07 a.m.

Fire officials say one cat died and a family of five is displaced.

The cause of the fire is under investigation.

There were no injuries and the displaced family has made housing arrangements.
