Residential fire in York County displaces 7 people

YORK Co., Va. - Seven people are now without a home after a fire tore through a Yorktown home and cottage on Friday morning.

York County Fire and Life Safety crews responded to the 100 block of Anchor Driver around 3:30 a.m.

When crews arrived on scene, four people were outside the home and heavy fire was shown coming from the attic and back of the home.

Crews were able to put the fire out, and no injuries were reported.img_0351

The occupants of the home are being assisted by the American Red Cross.

The cause of the fire is still under investigation.

Donations are being collected to assist the displaced individuals, who lost all of their clothing.

The following items are being collected:

  • Girls' sizes 5-6 and 10-12; shoe size 10.5/11
  • Women's sizes 8-10/Medium-Large; shoe size 6.5/7
  • Men's sizes 38/40 waist, X-Large shirt; shoe size 9.5
