PHILADELPHIA, Pa. – When the season was starting to flash in front of the Redskins eyes, Ryan Kerrigan stepped in and shifted the paradigm. With 21 seconds left on the clock, Kerrigan beat his man, stripped and sacked Carson Wentz, and saved Washington’s (7-5-1) season all on one play.  The late stop gave the ‘Skins their fifth straight win over the reeling Eagles (5-8).

Kirk Cousins only threw the ball 21 times, but made plays in critical spots. He hit the “Jaccpot” in the third quarter, finding DeSean Jackson for an 80-yard touchdown that gave Washington a 14-13 lead. Right before time expired in the third, he hit Pierre Garcon for a 15-yard fade route touchdown, giving the ‘Skins an eight point lead heading into the fourth. Jackson finished with three catches for 102 yards.

Rookie running back Robert Kelley had a solid day as well, rushing 16 times for 63 yards and a touchdown. His vision kept him moving forward, gaining four yards a carry.  Chris Thompson gave the lead for good when he rushed for a touchdown on a 25-yard pitch to the outside.  Thompson had three carries for 38 yards.

Eagles rookie quarterback Carson Wentz surpassed 300 yards passing, but was sacked four times and turned the ball over twice, something the ‘Skins knew could alter the game, similarly to the time these two met in Week 5. The ‘Skins defense struggled to get off the field at times, but still held the Eagles to less than 100 yards rushing as a collective.

With the win, the Redskins are tied with the Buccaneers for the sixth spot in the NFC standings.
