*** A Freeze Warning is in effect for the Outer Banks of Dare County from midnight to Saturday at 9 AM. The Outer Banks will likely see the first freeze of the season tonight.***

Much colder weather settles in but not for long….We’re feeling some of the coldest air of the season so far.  But our temperatures will be warming up over the next few days.

As we move through our Friday afternoon, expect plenty of sun, but don’t let it fool you. High temperatures will climb only into the low 40s for most of us. But because of the winds blowing in from the northwest between 5 and 15 mph, it’s going to feel like the 30s. Tonight, we’ll be even colder. Low temperatures will dip into the mid 20s under mostly clear skies.

By early Saturday morning, we’ll have temperatures in the 20s, but it will likely feel like the teens in a few communities. So don’t forget about your pets!  Highs will only reach the lower 40s by Saturday afternoon. At least we’ll see plenty of sunshine through the day.

On Sunday, we’ll start the day in the 20s. By afternoon, highs will climb into the upper 40s to near 50. We’ll see some sun, but clouds will begin building in ahead of our next weather maker, a cold front. We could even see a few showers late in the day on Sunday.

Temperatures are expected to climb into the 60s by Monday ahead of the front. As the front sweeps approaches the area, we’ll see scattered rain through the area. Then, our temperatures will drop into the 50s for highs on Tuesday.

Friday Afternoon: Mostly Sunny. Cold and Breezy. Highs in the low 40s. Wind chill in the mid 30s. Winds: NW 5-15 mph.

Friday Night: Mostly Clear. Cold and Breezy. Lows in the upper 20s. Wind chill in the low 20s. Winds: NW 5-15 mph.

Saturday: Mostly Sunny and Cold. Highs in the low 40s. Winds: NW 5-10 mph.

Sunday: Sun and Clouds. Highs in the upper 40s and lower 50s. Winds: W 5-10 mph.
