BOSTON – Baseball fans are doing a double take after a recent photo appeared online of Boston slugger Pablo Sandoval showing off his dramatic weight loss.

Sandoval, known throughout the majors for his size and power, has seen his share of troubles with his weight in the past. He showed up to spring training last season severely overweight, as reported in a scathing article in the Boston Globe.

The man who earned the nickname “Panda,” and was seen literally busting his belt as he swung his bat, is now sporting a slim look.

In a recent tweet, WBZ-TV anchor Dan Roche quoted Boston Red Sox President of Operations Dave Dombrowski that Sandoval is in “tremendous shape,” and provided the pic to prove it.

Manager John Farrell said, “I have to commend him for the work he’s put in.”

Boston fans are commending him too, and after a lackluster 2015 season and a 2016 season lost to injury, they’re hoping in 2017 he might start pulling his weight.
