GLENDALE, Ariz. – The trend continues; make big plays, just not enough to distance yourself from your opponents. The Redskins had opportunities to beat the Cardinals, they just couldn’t get the stop when they needed it. Washington (6-5-1) took a 20-17 lead into the fourth quarter, but allowed David Johnson to run wild. The Cardinals (5-6-1) all-purpose running back ran for 84 rushing yards and one touchdown on the ground while hauling in 9 catches for 91 yards and another touchdown.

Kirk Cousins was held in check for the most part by the Cardinals defense sans a 59-yard bomb to DeSean Jackson.  He threw for 271 yards, snapping his two-game streak of 350+ passing yards and three touchdowns. Cousins was intercepted in the 4th quarter on 3rd and 4 with 41 seconds left. Cousins’ also had one fumble.  The Cardinals defense though, has not allowed a 300+ yard passer all season.

Robert Kelley added 63 yards on 14 carries.  As a team, they were held under 100 rushing yards (87).

Carson Palmer threw for 300 yards and three touchdowns, while Larry Fitzgerald went for 10 catches and 78 yards. Norman shadowed Fitzgerald most of the evening.

The Redskins now fall to the 7th spot in the NFC Conference standings behind Tampa Bay(7-5). The ‘Skins continue their road trip in Philadelphia next week for a 1:00 p.m. kickoff against the Eagles.
