NEWPORT NEWS, Va. – A pedestrian was hit by two vehicles on Friday night.

Police say around 7:30 p.m. a male in his mid 40s was crossing  Jefferson Ave., between 44th and 45th street.

The man was walking east when he was struck by a Nissan truck traveling north on Jefferson Ave.

The driver who initially hit the pedestrian stopped and remained on scene.

Minutes later as the victim was lying on the ground he was struck by another vehicle and that driver fled the scene traveling northbound.

The second vehicle is believed to be a gold truck.

A third vehicle saw the man and parked his vehicle in front of the victim to block off traffic from continuing to hit him.

Police say the victim has been taken to the hospital with life-threatening injuries.

Charges are pending and the incident is under investigation.
